Virgin America is a new, California-based airline that is on a mission to make flying good again - with brand new planes, attractive fares, top-notch service, and a host of fun, innovative amenities that are reinventing domestic air travel. The Virgin America experience is unlike anything else in the domestic skies, with mood-lit cabins, custom-designed leather seats, power outlets, and a video touch-screen and remote control at every seatback that offers guests 25 films, live TV, videogames, seat-to-seat chat, an on-demand food ordering, and much more. The airline's base of operations is San Francisco International Airport's ultra-modern International Terminal. Virgin America currently flies to seven cities with daily flights from: SFO to LAX, SFO to JFK, SFO to SAN, SFO to IAD, SFO to LAS, LAX to JFK, LAX to IAD, SFO to SEA, SEA to LAX, JFK to LAS, BOS to LAX and BOS to SFO (both started on Feb. 12, 2009), and SFO-SNA (which started on April 30, 2009).
New York-based JetBlue Airways has created a new airline category based on value, service and style. Known for its award-winning service and free TV as much as its low fares, JetBlue is now pleased to offer customers Lots of Legroom and super-spacious Even More Legroom seats. JetBlue introduced complimentary in-flight e-mail and instant messaging services on aircraft "BetaBlue," a first among U.S. domestic airlines. JetBlue is also America's first and only airline to offer its own Customer Bill of Rights, with meaningful and specific compensation for customers inconvenienced by service disruptions within JetBlue's control. JetBlue currently serves 55 cities with 600 daily flights. With JetBlue, all seats are assigned, all travel is ticketless, all fares are one-way, and an overnight stay is never required.

American Airlines is a major airline of the United States. It is the world's largest airline in passenger miles transported and passenger fleet size. In 2005, the airline flew more than 138 billion passenger miles. A subsidiary of the AMR Corporation, the airline is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, adjacent to the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. American Airlines operates scheduled flights throughout the United States, and flights to Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Japan, the People's Republic of China, and India.
United Airlines operates nearly 3,000 flights a day on United and United Express to more than 200 U.S. domestic and international destinations from its hubs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago and Washington, D.C. With key global air rights in the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and Latin America, United is one of the largest international carriers based in the United States. United also is a founding member of Star Alliance, which provides connections for customers to 912 destinations in 159 countries worldwide. United's 49,500 employees reside in every U.S. state and in many countries around the world.
Continental Airlines is a United States certificated air carrier. Based in Downtown Houston, Texas, it is the fourth-largest airline in the US based on revenue passenger miles. Continental operates flights to destinations throughout the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific regions. Together with its subsidiaries it has more than 3,000 daily departures, serving over 151 domestic and 190 international destinations and has 85,200 employees. Principal operations are from its three hubs at Newark Liberty International Airport (in Newark, New Jersey), George Bush Intercontinental Airport (in Houston, Texas), and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (in Cleveland, Ohio). Continental Airlines is a minority owner of ExpressJet Airlines, which operates under the trade name Continental Express but is a separately managed and a publicly-traded company. Cape Air, Colgan Air, CommutAir, and Gulfstream International Airlines feed Continental's flights under the Continental Connection identity. Since September 2005, Continental has been a member of the SkyTeam Alliance, in which it participates with Delta Air Lines, Air France, Aeromexico, Alitalia and KLM.
US Airways is the fifth largest airline in the United States. A member of the Star Alliance, the airline has a fleet of 353 mainline jet aircraft and 319 regional jet and turbo-prop aircraft connecting 200 destinations in North America, Central America, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Europe. US Airways, headquartered in Tempe, Arizona, employs 33,765 people worldwide and operates 3,130 daily flights. The airline merged with America West Airlines in 2005 and the combined airline retained the US Airways name. US Airways operates hubs in Charlotte, Philadelphia and Phoenix. US Airways also maintains focus city operations at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, DC, McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, LaGuardia Airport in New York, and Logan International Airport in Boston. The airline operates the US Airways Shuttle, a US Airways brand which provides hourly service between key Northeastern markets. Regional airline service is branded as US Airways Express, operated by contract and subsidiary airline companies.
Delta Air Lines is a United States airline based and headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Delta operates an expansive domestic and international network, spanning North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the Caribbean. Delta has plans to initiate service to Sydney, Australia, which will make it the only current American carrier to serve every continent, excluding Antarctica. Delta and its subsidiaries fly to over 375 destinations in 88 countries, across 5 continents. Delta is the only major U.S. carrier that flies to Africa. Delta operates its largest hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Delta also maintains hubs at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, Salt Lake City International Airport, and Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport. Delta's Atlanta hub is the busiest airline hub in the world. Delta carries more passengers across the Atlantic than any other carrier worldwide. Its major transatlantic gateways are Atlanta, Cincinnati, and New York-JFK. Its major Latin American gateway is Atlanta. On October 29, 2008, Delta closed its merger with Northwest Airlines to form the world's largest commercial carrier. In February 2009, the airline began consolidating gates and ticket counters at airports where both Delta and Northwest operate. The consolidation will be completed by early 2010.
Established in 2003, Etihad Airways is the flag carrier airline of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Etihad is based in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. It operates services to the Middle East, Europe, Indian subcontinent, North America, Far East, Africa, and Oceania. Its main base is Abu Dhabi International Airport. In 2008, it carried more than six million passengers, compared with 340,000 in its first full year of operations in 2004.
Ryanair is an Irish low cost airline, with headquarters at Dublin Airport and its largest operational bases at Dublin Airport and London Stansted Airport. Ryanair operates 190 Boeing 737-800 aircraft on 830 routes across Europe and North Africa from its 32 bases. The airline has been characterized by rapid expansion, a result of the deregulation of the air industry in Europe in 1992 and the success of its low cost business model. Ryanair is the third largest airline in Europe in terms of passenger numbers and the worlds largest in terms of international passenger numbers.
Alaska Airlines is the ninth-largest U.S. airline based on passenger traffic and is the dominant U.S. West Coast air carrier. Headquartered in Seattle, Alaska carries more passengers between the state of Alaska and the Lower 48 than any other airline. During recent years, the airline has expanded significantly to serve more U.S. East Coast, Mexican and Canadian destinations. Long known for its Alaskan roots, symbolized by the Eskimo painted on the tail of the aircraft, Alaska Airlines offers a friendly and relaxed style of service, one that passengers have come to appreciate as the "Alaska Spirit." The airline also is known for embracing innovative technology to improve the customer experience. The carrier traces its roots back to 1932, when Linious "Mac" McGee of McGee Airways started flying his three-seat Stinson between Anchorage and Bristol Bay, Alaska. A merger with Star Air Service in 1934 created the largest airline in Alaska, which eventually became Alaska Airlines.
AirTran Airways is a low-cost airline that is a Delaware corporation with headquarters in Orlando, Florida, USA and is a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings. AirTran operates over 750 daily flights throughout the eastern USA and the Midwest, including over 270 daily departures from Atlanta. It is the world's largest Boeing 717 operator. AirTran's principal hub is at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and the airline's parent company, AirTran Holdings, is headquartered at Orlando International Airport, where AirTran also maintains a secondary hub.
Virgin Atlantic Airways is a British airline owned by Richard Branson's Virgin Group and Singapore Airlines. It is headquartered in Crawley, West Sussex, England, near London Gatwick Airport. It operates between the United Kingdom and North America, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia from main bases at London Heathrow and London Gatwick. Virgin has a smaller base at Manchester Airport.
Qatar Airways is the flag carrier airline of Qatar, based in Doha. It operates a hub and spoke network, linking over 80 international destinations. It is among the only six airlines awarded a 5-star rating by Skytrax.
EasyJet is an airline based at London Luton Airport. It carries the most passengers of any United Kingdom airline, operating domestic and international scheduled services on 387 routes between 104 European and North African airports. The airline primarily offers low cost point to point services but sometimes operates full service charter flights on behalf of other companies.
China Airlines is the flag carrier of the Republic of China. The airline is not directly state-owned but is 54% owned by the China Aviation Development Foundation which in turn is owned by the government of the Republic of China. The airline, based at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and with headquarters in Taipei, flies to destinations in Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania. The airline started scheduled flights between Taiwan and mainland China on July, 2008. Most flights serving this market are concentrated at Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing, and Hong Kong. China Airlines has operated the Hong Kong route since 1967. China Airlines is expected to become a full member of SkyTeam. Talks between the airline and the alliance started in 2007.
Aer Lingus is the flag carrier airline of Ireland. Based at Dublin Airport, it operates 47 Airbus aircraft serving Europe, Africa and North America. The airline is 29.4% owned by Ryanair and 25.4% owned by the Government of Ireland. Aer Lingus is a former member of the Oneworld airline alliance, which it left on 31 March 2007. While Aer Lingus is not in an alliance it has codeshares with Oneworld, Star Alliance and SkyTeam members, as well as interline agreements with Aer Arann and JetBlue Airways in the United States. The company employs 4,000 people and has a mixed business model, operating a low fare service on its European and North African routes and full service, two-class flights on transatlantic routes.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is the national airline of the Netherlands and is part of Air France-KLM. KLM's headquarters is in Amstelveen, the Netherlands, near its hub Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. KLM operates domestic and worldwide scheduled passenger and cargo services to more than 90 destinations. Its main base is Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. KLM is the oldest airline in the world still operating under its original name and has 30,118 employees. The merging of KLM with Air France in May 2004 created Air France-KLM. Both Air France and KLM continue to fly under their distinct brand names.
