	Continental Airlines is a United States certificated air carrier. Based in Downtown Houston, Texas, it is the fourth-largest airline in the US based on revenue passenger miles. 	Delta Air Lines is a United States airline based and headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Delta operates an expansive domestic and international network, spanning North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the Caribbean. Delta has plans to initiate service to Sydney, Australia, which will make it the only current American carrier to serve every continent, excluding Antarctica. Delta and its subsidiaries fly to over 375 destinations in 88 countries, across 5 continents. Delta is the only major U.S. carrier that flies to Africa. Delta operates its largest hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Delta also maintains hubs at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, Salt Lake City International Airport, and Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport. Delta's Atlanta hub is the busiest airline hub in the world. Delta carries more passengers across the Atlantic than any other carrier worldwide. Its major transatlantic gateways are Atlanta, Cincinnati, and New York-JFK. Its major Latin American gateway is Atlanta. On October 29, 2008, Delta closed its merger with Northwest Airlines to form the world's largest commercial carrier. In February 2009, the airline began consolidating gates and ticket counters at airports where both Delta and Northwest operate. The consolidation will be completed by early 2010.
	Established in 2003, Etihad Airways is the flag carrier airline of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Etihad is based in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. It operates services to the Middle East, Europe, Indian subcontinent, North America, Far East, Africa, and Oceania. Its main base is Abu Dhabi International Airport. In 2008, it carried more than six million passengers, compared with 340,000 in its first full year of operations in 2004.
	Ryanair is an Irish low cost airline, with headquarters at Dublin Airport and its largest operational bases at Dublin Airport and London Stansted Airport. Ryanair operates 190 Boeing 737-800 aircraft on 830 routes across Europe and North Africa from its 32 bases. The airline has been characterized by rapid expansion, a result of the deregulation of the air industry in Europe in 1992 and the success of its low cost business model. Ryanair is the third largest airline in Europe in terms of passenger numbers and the worlds largest in terms of international passenger numbers.
	Alaska Airlines is the ninth-largest U.S. airline based on passenger traffic and is the dominant U.S. West Coast air carrier. 	AirTran Airways is a low-cost airline that is a Delaware corporation with headquarters in Orlando, Florida, USA and is a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings. AirTran operates over 750 daily flights throughout the eastern USA and the Midwest, including over 270 daily departures from Atlanta. It is the world's largest Boeing 717 operator. AirTran's principal hub is at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and the airline's parent company, AirTran Holdings, is headquartered at Orlando International Airport, where AirTran also maintains a secondary hub.
	Virgin Atlantic Airways is a British airline owned by Richard Branson's Virgin Group and Singapore Airlines. It is headquartered in Crawley, West Sussex, England, near London Gatwick Airport. It operates between the United Kingdom and North America, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia from main bases at London Heathrow and London Gatwick. Virgin has a smaller base at Manchester Airport.
	Qatar Airways is the flag carrier airline of Qatar, based in Doha. It operates a hub and spoke network, linking over 80 international destinations. It is among the only six airlines awarded a 5-star rating by Skytrax.
	EasyJet is an airline based at London Luton Airport. It carries the most passengers of any United Kingdom airline, operating domestic and international scheduled services on 387 routes between 104 European and North African airports. The airline primarily offers low cost point to point services but sometimes operates full service charter flights on behalf of other companies.
	China Airlines is the flag carrier of the Republic of China. The airline is not directly state-owned but is 54% owned by the China Aviation Development Foundation which in turn is owned by the government of the Republic of China. The airline, based at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and with headquarters in Taipei, flies to destinations in Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania. The airline started scheduled flights between Taiwan and mainland China on July, 2008. Most flights serving this market are concentrated at Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing, and Hong Kong. China Airlines has operated the Hong Kong route since 1967. China Airlines is expected to become a full member of SkyTeam. Talks between the airline and the alliance started in 2007.
	Aer Lingus is the flag carrier airline of Ireland. Based at Dublin Airport, it operates 47 Airbus aircraft serving Europe, Africa and North America. The airline is 29.4% owned by Ryanair and 25.4% owned by the Government of Ireland. Aer Lingus is a former member of the Oneworld airline alliance, which it left on 31 March 2007. While Aer Lingus is not in an alliance it has codeshares with Oneworld, Star Alliance and SkyTeam members, as well as interline agreements with Aer Arann and JetBlue Airways in the United States. The company employs 4,000 people and has a mixed business model, operating a low fare service on its European and North African routes and full service, two-class flights on transatlantic routes.

KLM is the oldest airline in the world still operating under its original name and has 30,118 employees. The merging of KLM with Air France in May 2004 created Air France-KLM. Both Air France and KLM continue to fly under their distinct brand names.

	Air India is the national flag carrier airline of India, flying a worldwide network of passenger and cargo services. Air India is state-owned, and administered as part of the National Aviation Company of India Limited. The main bases of operation for the airline are Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport and Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. Air India is the 16th largest airline in Asia, serving 28 destinations worldwide and with its affiliated carriers, serves over 100 cities. 	Finnair is Finland's largest airline and the flag carrier, with its headquarters inVantaa, Finland, and its main hub at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. Finnair and its subsidiary companies dominate both the domestic and international air travel markets in Finland. The largest owner of this airline is the Finnish Government. In 2006, the airline transported 8.8 million passengers, on a network of 15 domestic and 55 international destinations. In addition there are about 50 seasonal charter-flight destinations. Skytrax ranks Finnair as a four-star airline.

	TSA is a component of the Department of Homeland Security in the USA.
